Privacy

Fake Haul is a pretend store. We record a little about how people shop here so we can see what they look for and add more of it. None of it says who you are.

Your visit id

The first time you do one of the things listed below, your browser makes a random visit id and keeps it in this tab's session storage. It ends when you close the tab, so a new visit gets a new id and we can't link your visits together.

What we record

Each of these actions sends a small event with your visit id. Our server adds the time.

  • Viewing an item.
  • Searching: the words you type (the first 100 characters) and how many items matched.
  • Picking a category.
  • Adding an item to the cart or removing it.
  • Pretend checkout, with the pretend total.
  • Clicking one of our own ads or an eBay link.

We never store your name, email address, IP address, browser details or any card number. The checkout never asks for them. Events are automatically deleted once they are more than 180 days old.

Your cart and pretend orders themselves are kept in your own browser's storage, not on our server. Clearing your browser data clears them.

Ads

The ad spaces show our own ads for now, and they set no cookies. If we turn on Google AdSense, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can read how Google uses information in ads and turn off personalized ads in Google's ad settings.

Affiliate links

The "Find a real one used on eBay" buttons are affiliate links. We may earn a commission from links on this site if you buy something on eBay after clicking one. eBay's own privacy policy applies once you are on eBay.
